There is a 13 minute video posted on Youtube from British Movietone and taken during the early days of the revolution that created the Yemen Arab Republic. It includes scenes of President Sallal (above) and the military buildup.
Egyptian President Nasser was a hero for many in the emerging republic due to his military support.
In the early 1960s the U.S. send food as foreign aid to Yemen. The following box originally contained that food but then was reused to store and hand out bullets to YAR recruits.
