The Dutch civil servant David van der Meulen and the German explorer Hermann von Wissman visited the Ḥaḍramawt in 1931 and apparently were the first Europeans to see the shrine at Qabr Ḥūd. Their travel account, originally published in 1932 in English, has been translated into Arabic.
