Please note that the maximum amount that may be requested is $2,000. This award cannot be used for salary, nor for major equipment purchases. It can be used for any research- related expenses or supplies, including cost of books, xerox or microfilm copies, film, miscellaneous stationary items, and travel costs. Per diem costs are allowable only for days away from home while traveling inside Yemen for the purpose of the proposed research. Your budget proposal should include all applicable information. If unusual costs are involved, discuss the necessity briefly in a note at the bottom of this page; you may add additional pages if necessary. A realistic project budget is one of the criteria used by the AIYS fellowship in evaluating the applications and recommending them for funding. AIYS will take all budget information into account in determining the level of funding awarded to successful applicants. Please note that successful AIYS fellows are required to notify AIYS of funds received from other sources for the same project; AIYS reserves the right to modify awards when other funds have been received, but the receipt of other funds does not necessarily result in an automatic adjustment of an AIYS award.

12. PROJECT PROPOSAL
Please attach a research proposal (in Arabic or English) describing your proposed research. This should be double-spaced, no more than 4 pages in length:

--1. Brief Summary of Project.

--2. Purpose and Goals of Project.

--3. Description of Project. (This should include a clear description of what will be studied and of the methods to be applied in doing the research. If the proposed project is part of a larger project, indicate how it will fit into that larger project.)

--4. Significance of Project to Yemeni Studies. (Discuss previous research on the subject and indicate what the proposed study will contribute.)

--5. Work Plan. (Discuss how time will be allotted for the various stages required by the research project.)

--6. Publication Plans. (Please indicate how you plan to publish or communicate the results of the research for which you are requesting AIYS support.)

 

Your application must be complete before it can be considered by the AIYS Fellowship Committee. Please make sure that the following items are including in the application package you submit to AIYS:

* Completed Application Form (in the format given on this site; preprinted forms may be obtained from either AIYS office)
* Project Proposal (to be attached to application form)
* Curriculum Vitae or Resume
* At least 2 letters of recommendation
