About Journals
In 2002, the DLIR began to address the need for access to an estimated 7,000
journal titles held at the overseas research centers. That year CAORC was awarded
a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to conduct a survey
at nine of the centers' libraries in the Middle East. Over 2,000 journals were
inventoried and cataloged as part of the Middle East Research Journals (MERJ)
project. Of these seven rare titles have been selected for preservation and
full access over the internet. Three titles have been selected for article-level
indexing. See the project
description and About MERJ
for more details.
